(Griffin/Royer) From the album 'Jimmy Griffin'. As I've said on the album notes, this is the last song Jimmy and I wrote together after a forty year writing career. According to my BMI statement, it apparently has been receiving airplay in the British Isles. It is a classic example of Jimmy's unique ear for harmonies.

Aha ! Proof that us Brits have immaculate musical taste ! Probably Roger Day playing it at the BBC after your interview ...
ReplyDeleteJimmy's voice always did lock into those harmonies so effortlessly. WORT-FM's Rockin' John McDonald - Madison's No. 1 oldies DJ - says his voice is one of the most recognizable in all of rock. He sure sounds great here.
ReplyDeleteRobb, what was the first song you wrote with Jimmy? I would suspect it could pre-date the Morning Glories and Beethoven Soul who, by the way, also get airplay on WORT from time to time.
One of my favourites off the 'Jimmy Griffin' album;CD, Robb. Oh, how I'd love to have heard this played on an Irish radio station. The closest I've come to that happening was about 5 years ago, when Midwest Radio (based in the mid/northwest of Ireland's Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Galway) played the Remingtons' 'Eternally Blue'. I actually audibly gasped (with delight, of course) at the extremely pleasant shock of hearing Jimmy's gorgeous voice coming through a little portable radio that my workplace had on all day. The rest of that day was spent smiling so much that my face began to hurt - but in a good way.
ReplyDeleteMalc and Robb - what's this about an interview on the BBC? I think I've missed out on something very important. Fill me in, please...
- June
June - about 6 months ago (maybe more) Robb participated in a BBC Radio interview to help promote the new 'Jimmy Griffin' CD. It was good chat, tho' I felt that Roger Day - the host - could have done a 'little bit' more research in advance ! ...
